McLaren's new factory revealed

MCLAREN is to build a vast new factory just four miles north of its current base in Woking, England. The team has recently acquired a farm at Fairoaks, between Woking and Chertsey, and last week applied for planning permission to turn the 125 acres into its new headquarters, concentrating all the TAG/McLaren Group activities in one place, rather than the seven buildings currently being used. The plans include the construction of a large lake, overlooked by a semi-circular factory, which will have six buildings attached to the central area. These will house the race team, TAG Electronics, McLaren Cars (which is expected to begin work on a supercar for Mercedes-Benz) and a state-of-the-art windtunnel, the first time that McLaren will have had its own windtunnel.

Approval for the development may take some months, but work is expected to begin as soon as the impressive plans get the go-ahead
