McLaren team principal Martin Whtmarsh hailed Lewis Hamilton's Korean GP drive 'tenacious and heroic' after Hamilton brought home a point in spite of a number of afflictions during the race.

"That was possibly the hardest point that this team have ever earned," Whitmarsh said after Hamilton finished in 10th place after driving much of the race with a broken rear anti-roll bar.

"Lewsis showed good pace in the opeopening stint, running with Alonso's Ferrari, but the roll bar broke around lap 18. After that I thught that's it, we're going to eat our tyres and we probably won't see the end of the race. But Lewis did a fantastic, heroic and tenacious job.

"His balance was destroyed, the ability to conserve tyres gone. Tyre pressures and the front wing was all we had to help him and it was inevitable that he was going to be forced into a three-stop strategy.

"To then see him fighting with Kimi (Raikkonen) and Grosjea, then catching the Toro Rossos in the closing stages, was truly remarkable. I think he would have got both of the Toro Rossos had it not been for the Astroturf caught in his sidepod. On the one side it was bitterly disappointing but I was also immensely proud."
