Lego makes F1 drivers look like clowns says Verstappen
Max Verstappen has intensified his criticism of Formula 1's new Lego drivers' parade, saying the sport risks making its stars "look like kids or clowns".
The four-time world champion had already questioned the spectacle, while Lewis Hamilton even suggested he may skip it altogether.
I prefer to play at home with Lego - with the children,
Verstappen told Viaplay.
"Not here in some kind of go-kart, to be honest. I'd rather be on the back of a truck with everyone.
I think that's more fun and also looks more professional.
The comments come amid paddock chatter that some leading drivers are growing frustrated with an increasing number of promotional appearances tied to their Formula 1 commitments.
In the end, we are Formula 1 drivers,
Verstappen continued. "I don't think we should look like kids or clowns, trying to ram each other.
I don't think this is what Formula 1 needs, but it's what it is.
He said he would simply fulfil his obligations on Sunday.
I just drive my own lap and wave to the fans because they deserve to see us, but personally I would have preferred to see it in a different way.
Verstappen's remarks echo those of his manager, Raymond Vermeulen, who recently told the Dutch magazine Formule 1 that Verstappen is not a clown
and should not be used for weird things
