THE new Jordan Mugen-Honda EJ10 ran for the first time last week on the Club Straight at Silverstone circuit, Heinz-HaraldÊFrentzen giving the new machine its first shakedown tests. The teams continued to work at the Northamptonshire track - checking out the new electronic systems for a couple of days, the team preferring to stay close to home rather than travelling out to Spain to run the car.

The EJ10 - which has been designed by Mike Gascoyne and his team of engineers at Jordan - is the first Jordan to be designated "EJ" after company chairman Eddie Jordan and the "10" designation is to indicate that the 2000 season will be Jordan Grand Prix's 10th season in F1. The team is planning an official launch at the Theatre Royal in London's Drury Lane on January 31 and will then embark on an intensive series of tests in Spain which will involve Frentzen and his new team-mate Jarno Trulli.
