McLaren protege Lewis Hamilton won victory in the opening round of the Formula 3 Euroseries, establishing himself as the favourite for the title and extending the domination which the ASM team has enjoyed for more than a year. Hamilton was followed home by his team mate Adrian Sutil. Third place went to Italian Marco Bonanomi (Prema Powerteam) after other challengers took themselves out in accidents. At the start Franck Perera (Prema Powerteam), Paul di Resta, (Manor Motorsport) and Sebastian Vettel (Mucke Motorsport) took each other out in a crash, leaving Lucas di Grassi (Manor Motorsport) fighting for third with Giedo van der Garde (Prema Powerteam). The two men eventually collided at 130mph with di Grassi's car somersaulting several times. The Brazilian was shaken but unhurt.

James Rossiter (Signature Plus) finished fourth, making up for a poor 15th qualifying while the top six was completed by Maximilian Gotz (HBR Motorsport) and Rossiter's Signature team mate Loic Duval.

The British F3 race at Spa was called off because of thick fog.
