The British publication Marketing Week has quoted research which places Lewis Hamilton in the top five most powerful UK celebrities.

Millward Brown's quarterly celebrity and brand research (Cebra) interviewed 2000 UK consumers about 100 celebrities. Footballer David Beckham, previously third, swaps places with former No1 Kylie Minogue, with Ant & Dec second, Will Smith fourth and Hamilton fifth, coming into the top five from 14th slot previously.

Cheryl Cole, formerly second, has dropped to eighth, while Stephen Fry emerged as the most likeable celebrity. Actresses Joanna Lumley, Dame Judi Dench and Helen Mirren were the most positive role models, following a trend towards older women. Amy Winehouse, Katie Price (Jordan) and footballer Ashley Cole were revealed as the most negative role models.
