GP2 announces 12 teams

The new GP2 series has announced 12 teams which it says will compete this year. The teams are much as expected with the usual Formula 3000 frontrunners Arden, Coloni, BCN, Durango and Super Nova being joined by a variety of new operations including ART, a new team which will be fielded by ASM for Nicolas Todt.

The new GP2 series has announced 12 teams which it says will compete this year. The teams are much as expected with the usual Formula 3000 frontrunners Arden, Coloni, BCN, Durango and Super Nova being joined by a variety of new operations including ART, a new team which will be fielded by ASM for Nicolas Todt (son of Jean). Former Grand Prix driver Adrian Campos will move his Campos Racing up from Formula Nissan while DAMS returns from the Renault V6 series. David Price Racing is a well known name for the last 25 years while British F3 teams Hitech Piquet and P1 Motorsport are also included. The 12th team is iSport International, which is being run by Paul Jackson, who previously fielded the secondary Super Nova teams, such as Den Bla Avis and the Petrobras Junior Team. There is talk of a 13th team as well.

The ultimate test for GP2 will be whether or not all the teams are still there at the end of the season although with what looks like a solid group that should not be too much of a problem.
