Finland joins anti-tobacco forces

Finland has become the 52nd nation to ratify the World Health Organization's Framework Conventon on Tobacco Control, the world's first international treaty on health.

Finland has become the 52nd nation to ratify the World Health Organization's Framework Conventon on Tobacco Control, the world's first international treaty on health. The treaty will come into force at the end of next month and the countries that have ratified the deal will be bound to eradicate all sports sponsorship for tobacco companies. The countries will also be bound to encourage others to sign up, and keep to the terms of, the treaty which aims to stop all tobacco advertising around the world.
