Ferrari abandons launch plans

Bad weather in Italy has forced Ferrari to cancel launch plans for its 2012 F1 challenger.

Bad weather in Italy has forced Ferrari to cancel launch plans for its 2012 F1 challenger.

The car that Ferrari hopes will put it back at the front of the grand prix grid was due to be unveiled at Maranello on Friday morning. Heavy snowfall has, however, forced the team to reconsider.

"There was no let up from the snow last night and the situation does not appear to be changing," the team said on Thursday morning. "The forecast is still bad both in terms of predictions of more snow fall and of a further drop in temperature.

"The decision was taken because of the difficulties that would have faced the 300 or so people due to attend from the team partners, the authorities and representatives of the media in their attempts to get to Maranello."

Photographs, technical information and interviews will, however, still be available tomorrow.
