Former F1 team principal turned BBC television pundit Eddie Jordan has received an honorary OBE in the UK for his services to charity and motor racing.

Jordan was a one-time F3 racer against the likes of Nigel Mansell before turning his attention to team management. He took his Jordan F3/F3000 team into F1 as Jordan Grand Prix in 1991, the team's glory days coming in 1999 when Heinz-Harald Frentzen won the French and Italian grands prix races and challenged for the world championship, ultimately finishing third.

"What a wonderful moment in my life," Jordan said. "I am hugely surprised and greatly overjoyed to receive this magnificent honour, however it would not have been possible without the help of my family, the Jordan Grand Prix F1 team, CLIC Sargent and in more recent times the BBC F1 team."
