Panasonic Toyota Racing has hired Frank Dernie to help the team on aerodynamic and chassis-related matters, although he will not be based in Germany and will not be attending races on a regular basis. The veteran F1 engineer will, however, help the team to develop the TF107 and will advise on the design of the TF108.

Dernie has been involved in F1 for 30 years, beginning in the late 1970s with Hesketh Racing. He moved on to Williams where he made his time, doing aerodynamic development on the celebrated FW07. He went onto work for a variety of other teams although his most recent role was back at Williams.
