D'Ambrosio misses out

Jerome D'Ambrosio missed out on the second session of free practice in Malaysia as a result of damage sustained after a suspension failure in the morning session.

"We've had a challenging start," admitted team principal John Booth. "The combination of the wheel flailing on its tether and the car ending up in the gravel meant that the damage was quite considerable.

"Because the incident happened just a few minutes before the end of FP1 we faced a major battle to rebuild the car and get out on track for FP2 for at least an installation lap. Despite a monumental effort from Jerome's crew we missed out by just a few minutes, so it's been a tough day on that side of the garage. Thankfully things went better on Timo's side, which at least provided us with an opportunity to gauge where we are."

The result of that was encouraging for the team. Glock's 1:40.866 was 3.9s off the ultimate Red Bull pace and 1s up on the Team Lotus best from Jarno Trulli. It was also just 0.75s down on Sebastian Buemi's Toro Rosso best, although the Swiss suffered a yellow flag on his hot lap with the soft Pirelli tyre and team mate Jaime Alguersuari (1:38.846) went substantially quicker in the sister STR06.
