Chandhok, who scored his first GP2 victory at Spa is aiming to follow in the footsteps of Narain Karthikeyan into F1 in the future.

"Barcelona presents a good opportunity to put Karun in one of the cars, as our regular test driver Sebastien Buemi will be competing in the Macau F3 race," Red Bull's Christian Horner said.

There is much excitement about F1 in India at the moment following the takeover of Spyker by businessman Vijay Mallya.

It is anticipated that Chandhok will stay in GP2 next - probably with full Red Bull backing - and he recently tested with iSport International and other teams.
