Toyota Formula 1 test driver Ryan Briscoe is expected to be named as the third driver of Target Chip Ganassi Racing in the Indy Racing League team next year. Briscoe is believed to have signed a two-year contract with the team and goes to the team with backing from Toyota. He will join the current drivers Scott Dixon and Darren Manning.

Briscoe is due to test for the team today at Sebring in Florida and the contract is expected to be signed at the test. Briscoe has not given up hope of getting into F1 in the future and hopes that success in the United States will give him the opportunity to go back to F1 at some point.

Briscoe had been named as a possible Jordan driver but it seems that he still needed to raise money for the drive.
