Alguersuari joins STR

Scuderia Toro Rosso has announced that Spain's Jaime Alguersuari will be replacing Sebastien Bourdais. In Hungary he will become the youngest man ever to race in F1 at the age of 19 years and 125 days. The current record is disputed as Mike Thackwell started the 1980 Canadian Grand Prix at the age of 19 years and 182 days, but the race was stopped after an accident on the first lap and thus this was declared null and void. Thackwell was unable to start the new race because he had to hand his car over to his team-mate. If Thackwell is judged not to have started a race, the record is held by Mexico's Ricardo Rodriguez who started the 1961 Italian GP at the age of 19 years and 208 days. Alguersuari will become the seventh 19-year-old to race F1 cars, alongside Thackwell, Rodriguez, Fernando Alonso, Esteban Tuero, Chris Amon and Sebastian Vettel.
