Alguersuari back behind the wheel

Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari, who lost his Toro Rosso seat at the end of 2011, is having his first outing as a Pirelli test driver at Jerez this week.

Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari, who lost his Toro Rosso seat at the end of 2011, is having his first outing as a Pirelli test driver at Jerez this week.

"I was just counting down the minutes to be behind the wheel of the world's most sophisticated machinery," Alguersuari said, before climbing aboard Pirelli's Renault R30 Pirelli test car.

F1's control tyre supplier is starting work on its 2013 tyres, a task which Alguersuari will undertake along with former Virgin driver Luca di Grassi.

The Pirelli programme concludes on Wednesday, leaving Alguersuari enough time to nip up the road to Barcelona where he will continue his role alongside James Allen in the commentary box for BBC Radio 5 Live.
