Zonta agrees to join Jordan as test driver

BRAZILIAN Ricardo Zonta has ended speculation about his future after agreeing to join Jordan as test driver for the 2001 world championship.

The 24-year-old, who will be replaced at British American Racing by Olivier Panis, was reportedly set to replace the Frenchman as McLaren's test driver but his manager Geraldo Rodriguez revealed at Suzuka that Zonta would be joining Jordan.

"There are no available places as a driver in any of the top teams so Ricardo decided to go to Jordan as test driver," Rodriguez said.

Zonta has endured a disappointing two-year stay with Brackley-based BAR and has collected just three points this season.
