Wurz fastest again in Spain

Testing continued at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Barcelona, on Friday, the third of four scheduled days of testing prior to the Japanese Grand Prix.

TESTING continued at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Barcelona, on Friday, the third of four scheduled days of testing prior to the Japanese Grand Prix. Alexander Wurz recorded the fastest lap of the day, at 1m18.79s.

Mark Webber continued to put laps on a new spec engine for Benetton they intend to use for qualifying at Suzuka, but only completed 20 laps due to problems.

Pedro de la Rosa was behind the wheel for Jaguar, taking over from teammate Eddie Irvine.

Marc Gene and F3000 driver Antonio Pizzonia tested for Williams. Gene put the 2002 BMW V10 through its paces in a 2001 chassis, collecting data for the team before the testing ban begins after the final round of the season next weekend.
