Williams lands Federal Express money

THE BMW Williams team has landed a new sponsorship deal from the Federal Express company which was ousted from Ferrari by the signing of the new Vodafone sponsorship deal. Federal Express is very keen to use F1 to promote its products around the world and the switch to Williams makes sense as the team is the operation which is thought most likely to be challenging for the World title this year. FedEx entered F1 in the middle of 1997 with Benetton but soon realized that it was a mistake and in 1999 decided to join forces with Stewart Grand Prix but at the last minute took up the chance to join Ferrari and has enjoyed much success with the Italian team.

The new deal with Williams is four three years and FedEx replaces Nortel, the Canadian telecom company's deal with Williams having ended.
