Whitmarsh concerned over performance

MCLAREN's managing director Martin Whitmarsh has admitted that he is concerned about the reliability of the team's new MP4/16 car.

MCLAREN's managing director Martin Whitmarsh has admitted that he is concerned about the reliability of the team's new MP4/16 car.

Whitmarsh, one of the top bosses at the Woking-based team, accepted that there is plenty of time for his team to turn around the performance before Australia.

"It's early days yet for the new car, but we were disappointed that we experienced a few reliability issues which we intend to address before the first race in Australia," said Whitmarsh.

"Overall, however, we were not disappointed by the car's competitiveness."

The team has just 16 days left to ensure that the reliability issues are resolved before the first race of the season in Melbourne.
