Watch out for hirings and firings

TRADITIONALLY this is the time of year when F1 team bosses have the chance to take a step back and assess how the first part of the season has gone and make the changes they feel are necessary to improve their level of competitiveness.

Since the end of April, there has been a race every other week, leaving team principals with no time to make changes without affecting performance. The extra week between Canada and France is a momentary break before the circus plunges into a series of eight races in 13 weeks, lasting until the start of October.

It is also a time when technical changes are introduced, which will carry the teams through the summer months as the F1 trail moves onto the faster tracks of continental Europe. So you can also expect a shake-up in the levels of competitiveness.
