Canadian driver Jacques Villeneuve has shown his backing to Michael Schumacher's world title bid - by dying his hair 'Ferrari scarlet' for this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.

The British American Racing driver, a world champion in 1997 with Williams, has sported blonde, yellow and blue hair in the past but his new look shows his support for Schumacher.

Villeneuve, whose father Gilles drove for Ferrari between 1977 and 1982, remarked: "It is to show that my preference goes to Ferrari."
