JOS VERSTAPPEN dominated the rest of the field as he topped the times in testing at Silverstone on Thursday by running nearly one-and-a-half seconds quicker than his rivals.
The Dutchman powered around the Northamptonshire track in one minute and 24.99 seconds, despite losing the engine cover from his car while out on the track and causing damage to his rear wing.
Verstappen's nearest rival was Sauber's Mika Salo, who clocked a quickest lap of one minute and 26.24 seconds.
Jaguar's Eddie Irvine, who was quickest on Wednesday, finished third fastest, fractionally ahead of Alexander Wurz, who completed just eight laps all day after an engine failure in the morning.
Benetton were also represented by Antonio Pizzonia, but he also suffered an engine problem and completed 20 laps before finishing the day ninth fastest.
Jordan completed their testing at the circuit with Jarno Trulli finishing fifth quickest and completing 73 laps after a problem free engine change in the afternoon.
