Verstappen and Arrows

REPORTS in Holland suggest that Jos Verstappen has now signed for Arrows - as we have been predicting for some weeks. If the news is confirmed the Dutchman will partner Pedro de la Rosa. If the news is confirmed it will be the second time that the 27-year-old will have driven for the team - having spent a season with the team in 1996. It will actually be the third time he was driven for Tom Walkinshaw in F1 - as he drove for Benetton in 1994 when the Scotsman was running that team. Jos has also driven for Simtek, Tyrrell, Stewart and most recently for the Honda Racing Developments test team.

We understand that Verstappen has been able to raise around $7.5m in Holland and this has secured him the drive. Arrows is still believed to be around $20m short of the budget it needs for the coming season but Walkinshaw is putting a brave face on matters and ignoring attempts by a consortium to buy the team from him.
