Trouble for Willie Brown

THE mayor of San Francisco Willie Brown, who has hopes of hosting a Grand Prix in the city, is going to struggle to make a race a reality. On Tuesday elections for the board of supervisors resulted in a major victory for anti-Brown forces who want him to slow down the number of development projects which are going on.

The Supervisory Board will now be able to provide a much stronger opposition to Brown's schemes to promote San Francisco. The explosive growth of the city has pushed up real estate prices and resulted in more and more congestion in the city.
