The 2002 Italian Grand Prix was the third fastest race of all time, just marginally slower than the 1971 Italian Grand Prix at Monza and the Belgian Grand Prix of 1970.

Rubens Barrichello's average speed was 149.806 mph (241.090 kph).

The Italian GP of 1971 averaged 150.754 mph (242.615 kph) from start to finish and was won by Peter Gethin in a BRM.

The Belgian GP of 1970 averaged 149.941 mph (241.308 kph) and was won by Pedro Rodriguez in a BRM.
