THREE teams resumed testing in Jerez, Spain on Tuesday, kicking off a four day session in sweltering conditions. McLaren's Alexander Wurz set the fastest time of the day, while working alongside fellow test driver Darren Turner for the Woking based team.

Fernando Alonso, who was behind the wheel of a Jaguar two weeks ago, returned to the Renault R202 Tuesday. The Spaniard set the second fastest time of the day, nearly a second off Wurz's time.

Williams-BMW also worked in Spain with test driver Marc Gene. Tim Newton, the team's test team manager, commented, "This is the first time this year that we are testing at the Jerez track which greeted us with an extremely hot day. We had track temperatures over 50 degrees with the ambient temperature around 35. Regardless, we have been busy today and are pleased with the set-up work we completed."

Testing will continue on Wednesday.
