Teams wrap up Silverstone test
Rubens Barrichello was the fastest man at Silverstone Thursday, for the third and final day of testing at the British circuit before the teams head to Montreal for the Canadian GP.
Allan McNish was second fastest on the day for Toyota, about 1.5 seconds off Barrichello's time. "It was another day fragmented by the weather," said McNish. "We continued to try and get our tire test done and in the end we did a limited program. However things are shaping up well and the car was feeling good today. Personally it has been nice to be back on home soil and I am looking forward to the next few races." McNish's teammate, Mika Salo, worked on aerodynamics, and was 15th fastest.
Enrique Bernoldi wrapped up a rare test for Arrows. The Brazilian completed 42 laps, good for third fastest.
Renault's Fernando Alonso tested a Jaguar R3 Thursday, and was marginally quicker than Pedro De la Rosa. The latest rumors are that Alonso will drive for Jaguar in 2003, as it looks like Jenson Button will be staying with Renault next year.
Kimi Raikkonen and David Coulthard wrapped up McLaren's testing efforts before heading across the Atlantic, as did Takuma Sato for Jordan, Nick Heidfeld for Sauber, Jenson Button and Jarno Trulli for Renault and Marc Gene and Juan Pablo Montoya for Williams-BMW.
Jacques Villeneuve and Patrick Lemarie tested for BAR Thursday. The team will introduce a new chassis in Montreal for Villeneuve's home grand prix, and Honda will be introducing a new specification engine in Canada as well.
