Tomas Scheckter is free to drive for Target Chip Ganassi Racing in the Indy Racing League next year, following the news that Eddie Cheever has given up his legal challenge because of the problems which the Tom Walkinshaw Racing organisation is having at the moment. Scheckter was under contract to TWR but was loaned out to Cheever (who was using the TWR-prepared Infiniti engines).

"Because of financial entanglements surrounding the Arrows Formula 1 team, TWR principals have decided to withdraw from the lawsuit," Cheever said in a statement. "TWR has much larger problems to take care of with the troubles facing their Formula 1 team."
