YOUNGSTERS Nick Heidfeld and Kimi Raikkonen rubbished suggestions that Sauber have taken a gamble on them as they left their rivals for dead in the eighth day of testing at Barcelona on Sunday.

German Heidfeld and rookie Finn Raikkonen were over two seconds quicker than Briton Eddie Irvine, back in his R2 Jaguar, as their Bridgestone-shod Sauber dominated proceedings at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Irvine was marginally quicker than BMW-Williams new-boy Juan Pablo Montoya, while Luciano Burti, in the second Jaguar, was fifth quickest.

Gaston Mazzacane continued his education in Prost's new AP04 car but the Argentine driver was almost five seconds slower than Heidfeld, who was quicker than his team-mate Raikkonen.
