SAUBER announced on Friday that Briton Stephen Taylor has joined the team as chief designer.

The Swiss team confirmed at their launch on Wednesday that the designer of this year's C20 car Sergio Rinland has left the team by mutual consent and Taylor will come in with immediate effect.

Taylor, 37, from Leeds, joins Sauber from McLaren international, where he worked as a design engineer since September 1995.

Taylor has 14 years experience after spells at Advanced Composites Group, Team Lotus, Larrousse and McLaren International and has been brought in by team boss Peter Sauber as part of his plan for the future.

Sauber has focused on appointing young personnel in recent months and Taylor's appointment follows that of the youngest driver line-up for next season with Kimi Raikkonen, 21, and Nick Heidfeld, 23, set to drive this year.
