Samsung looks at Formula 1

The Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is rumoured to be taking a serious look at Formula 1 with representatives of the firm visiting the F1 paddock in Barcelona. Samsung is a major player in the high technology world.

The Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is rumoured to be taking a serious look at Formula 1 with representatives of the firm visiting the F1 paddock in Barcelona. Samsung is a major player in the high technology world with wide-ranging operations in electronics, semiconductors, chemicals, genetic engineering, optical telecommunications and aerospace.

Samsung was started in 1938 as a trading company beginning in dried fish and vegetables but quickly moved into manufacturing, setting up it sown flour mills and confectionery machines. In the 1960s the company moved into electronics which became the core business in the 1970s and 1980s before more diversification into other technologies.
