Rumi dies from cancer
FORMER Minardi team manager and chairman Gabriele Rumi died after a brave fight against cancer on Monday evening, the team announced on Tuesday.
Rumi, 61, sold his stake in the Faenza-based team in the close season to Australian Paul Stoddart after previously joining the team in 1996.
He previously worked with Williams, Osella, Ligier, Zakspeed and Tyrrell through his Fondmetal company, which he is founder and chairman of.
He has been involved in the sport for 20 years and a Minardi statement said he had "made a considerable contribution as a manager and a man."
