Red Bull and Renault talking again'

Renault and Red Bull are at least "talking again".

Renault and Red Bull are at least talking again.

That is the news of Jos Verstappen, a former F1 driver who now travels the globe with his son Max.

Max, newly 18, drives for Red Bull's junior team Toro Rosso, which like the senior outfit could be pulled out of the sport if a solution to the engine crisis cannot be found.

In the past days, however, it appears that reconciliation with Renault could be the best - and perhaps the only - outcome that at least keeps Red Bull on the grid.

"As far as next season goes, we are still waiting," Jos Verstappen wrote in his column for the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

"It is still not clear if Red Bull is staying and, if so, with what engine suppliers for Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso. Everything is still open," he added.

"At least there are talks with Renault again, even if it is quite late. Still, I don't know what will happen," Verstappen snr said.

Jos also commented on the possibility that Lewis Hamilton will wrap up the world championship this weekend in Austin.

"The failures of his rival Nico Rosberg is why the points difference is suddenly higher," he said, "but with his nine victories it is clear that Lewis has been the strongest this year.

"But having the title already decided with three races to go could be a disadvantage for the interest in Mexico, Sao Paulo and Abu Dhabi," Verstappen added.
