Gerhard Berger became the most experienced Ferrari Formula 1 driver ever on Sunday when he competed in his 81st race for the legendary Italian team. Berger has been with Ferrari since the start of 1987, although he had three years (1990-91-92) when he raced at McLaren.

Gerhard passed Michele Alboreto's record on 80 races. As a matter of interest, the record was previously held by Clay Regazzoni who completed 73 races with the team.

Other drivers who have completed more than 50 GPs for Ferrari are Gilles Villeneuve, who did 66; Jean Alesi who has so far done 63; Niki Lauda who stayed for 57 and Jackie Ickx who did 55.

Some of Ferrari's famous drivers from the 1950s may appear to have done a lot of races, but there were fewer GPs in those days.
