Rain deluge hampers Silverstone test

APRIL showers at Silverstone on Wednesday meant the session became another from which to gain more knowledge on wet weather running.

APRIL showers at Silverstone on Wednesday meant the session became another from which to gain more knowledge on wet weather running.

British American Racing put up a strong driver line-up of Jacques Villeneuve and Olivier Panis for the test, and the pair duly topped the timesheets with Villeneuve almost one-and-a-half seconds ahead of the nearest McLaren.

Jordan had an off day, ending bottom of the times after Zonta aquaplaned off the track during his morning installation lap.

He suffered no damage, but the weather stopped the team making any progress on their tire test program.

Jarno Trulli was also out of luck as his car was late in returning from Brazil, and he only managed 10 laps to shake down the EJ11.

But Brazilian Zonta managed some laps in the afternoon and worked, as most team are currently doing, on traction control.
