Months of drought have come to an end in Melbourne, with rain falling across the state of Victoria and more rain expected in the days ahead. In some places as much as five inches have fallen in the last 36 hours. This will certainly ease the pressure on the supply of water in the region which forced the organisers of the Australian GP to seek out water to ensure that the verges of the Albert Park race track are properly maintained to ensure that the track looks good when F1 arrives to avoid any safety issues.

It remains to be seen whether the rain will continue for long as this is supposed to be the driest time of the year in Melbourne but it is clear that one storm will do little to replenish the water supplies which have been severely depleted in recent months.
