Raikkonen on top in Valencia

McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen continued to set the pace in the third day of the Valencia F1 testing, lapping the track in 1m10.664s after 114 laps. This was more than a second faster than his McLaren-Mercedes team mate David Coulthard, who completed only 65 laps for a best of 1m11.833s.

The Williams team was not going for times and Juan Pablo Montoya completed 137 laps by himself on his way to a best lap of 1m12.139s. He was followed by the team's test driver Marc Gene who completed 45 laps. The team also ran Vitantonio Liuzzi, who completed 71 laps of the track and set a best time of 1m14.026s, a very creditable performance for the youngster having his first taste of F1.

Sauber's Nick Heidfeld was fifth fastest, splitting Gene and Liuzzi after 83 laps of the track while Renault's Jarno Trulli was the slowest runner of the day with a 1m14.173s.
