Alexandre Premat won the prestigious Marlboro Masters in Zandvoort at the weekend for the ASM Formule 3 team. Premat took advantage of a mistake by his team mate Eric Salignon, who spun while leading the race. The race was interrupted early after an accident but once the Safety Car had been withdrawn Salignon led until the 21st lap when he spun. He was able to rejoin in second place but Premat had the race under control and duly won by two seconds. Two seconds behind Salignon at the finish was the best of the British series runners Adam Carroll (P1 Motorsports) and there was then a big gap back to James Rossiter (Fortec) and Lucas di Grassi (Hitech Racing) who was chased across the line by Nico Rosberg (Opel Team Rosberg) and Lewis Hamilton (Manor Motorsport). There was then a gap back Nelson Piquet Jr (Piquet Sports) with Jamie Green ninth in his ASM car after a late mistake dropped him back several places. He was followed across the line by Danny Watts in the Lola Dome.
