Pre-season Barcelona testing comes to a close
Wednesday was the final day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya before the season starts on March 3rd.
Heinz-Harald Frentzen continued development of the Arrows A23 in Barcelona Wednesday. The German was second fastest on the day, but nearly a second off Button's pace.
Jordan fielded both race drivers Wednesday in new EJ12 chassis. Takuma Sato completed 71 laps, conducting general setup and tire testing for Bridgestone, and Giancarlo Fisichella completed 81 laps, conducting a race simulation.
"We had a couple of problems this week," said Fisichella, "but overall it's been productive, particularly the last day, as it was good to do a race distance. I'm looking forward to the season with confidence in the new engine and the car seems to be getting better each day."
Minardi fielded two PS02 cars for the first time Wednesday. Australian Mark Webber and Malaysian Alex Yoong continued development of the new challenger.
A number of the teams are expected to continue testing in Silverstone next week.
