Pollock buys a CART team?

Our spies in the United States of America say that Craig Pollock has purchased the assets of Bruce McCaw's PWR Championship Racing and has plans to revive the operation in CART in 2003.

Our spies in the United States of America say that Craig Pollock has purchased the assets of Bruce McCaw's PWR Championship Racing and has plans to revive the operation in CART in 2003. PWR stopped competing early this year because it could not find any sponsorship. The team ran Lola-Toyota chassis in 2002 and grew out of the successful PacWest Racing operation which enjoyed backing for several years from Motorola and British American Tobacco's South American cigarette brand Hollywood for drivers Mark Blundell and Mauricio Gugelmin. In the end however Motorola decided to back Michael Andretti and Hollywood moved to Mo Nunn Racing and PacWest was unable to find replacements.

We hear that Pollock has a partner in the business but it is not clear who this is, although it is not believed to be Jacques Villeneuve.

It is worth noting that the assets of Sigma Autosport have also recently been sold by Tom Wieringa by a group called BC Motorsports and the team intends to run an Italian driver in the 2003 series.
