Pizzonia tops the bills in Barcelona
Testing got underway for the first time since the end of the 2001 season Monday in Barcelona with Williams' young test driver Antonio Pizzonia setting the early pace.
McLaren, on Michelin tires for the first time, tested with Alexander Wurz and David Coulthard, who were second and third quickest on the day.
Olivier Panis was the only man behind the wheel of a 2002 car, the Honda-powered BAR 004, while his teammate, test driver Anthony Davidson, ran a BAR 003.
Jaguar tested with two 2001 cars on Monday with Eddie Irvine and Pedro De la Rosa. The two are expected to drive the new R3 for the first time on Tuesday.
The times do not mean much as the emphasis at the moment is on the development of new parts for the 2002 cars and on tuning chassis to the 2002 tires.
Both Ferrari and Sauber are expected to begin testing in Barcelona tomorrow.
