Pizzonia to test for Williams

FORMULA 3000 racer Antonio Pizzonia will soon test for the Williams team.

FORMULA 3000 racer Antonio Pizzonia will soon test for the Williams team. The test comes about because of the Brazilian's links with Petrobras (a Williams sponsor) and the fact that he drives for the Williams-supported Petrobras Junior Team.

Pizzonia will follow in the footsteps of his F3000 team mate Ricardo Speraficco, who ran with Williams at a recent aerodynamic mapping test at Lurcy-Levis in France.

Williams has no plans at the moment to replace its current test driver Marc Gene although the Spaniard does still have ambitions of getting back into Formula 1 and Williams needs to keep an eye on emerging talent, although the team has an excess of drivers for the next few years with Ralf Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya and Jenson Button all under contract.

Pizzonia has previously tested for the Benetton team but failed to make much of an impression.
