French automaker Peugeot Citroen has named former Airbus chief executive Christian Streiff as its new boss. The current CEO Jean-Martin Folz is standing down soon after 10 years in the job and Streiff, who resigned from Airbus last month after just 99 days in the job. Now 52, Streiff worked with the Saint-Gobain construction materials company in his early career rising to become deputy chief executive before moving to Airbus in July this year. During his time with St Gobain he worked in many different fields in different countries including automotive supplies, composites, packaging, pipelines, abrasives, ceramics and high performance plastics.
He may have different ideas about the Peugeot and Citroen motor sport programmes to Folz, who took the company out of F1 and concentrated on the World Rally Championship, first with Peugeot and in recent years with Citroen.
