AN F1-endorsed "F1 World Grand Prix II" computer game has been released on the Sega Dreamcast -- which is set to rival the forthcoming Sony Playstation II World Rally game.

The Sega release, launched by Video System, will include an extensive background on all the teams on the grid and also give the gameplayer the chance to assume the role of television director in a re-run of the 1999 season.

Sega and Sony are the two biggest players in the new console market and this new release is Sega's answer to the World Rally game, which is set to be released in the autumn.

Video System have a strong pedigree in F1 games, after releasing the first-ever officially licenced F1 racing game in 1992.
