No third car for Sauber

Peter Sauber has confirmed that his team is not intending to run a third car in 2004, despite the fact that it may be a disadvantage as the team will not be able to use the extra car to do tyre testing on Fridays at each Grand Prix.

Peter Sauber has confirmed that his team is not intending to run a third car in 2004, despite the fact that it may be a disadvantage as the team will not be able to use the extra car to do tyre testing on Fridays at each Grand Prix.

"Primarily it is a question of budget," said Sauber. "The new rule about drivers is a joke because it is obviously important to have an experienced driver doing the tyre testing."

Sauber said that the team will retain Neel Jani to do tests away from the races but says that most of the development work will be done by the two regular drivers.
