Mugen-Honda set to announce future plans in Malaysia
MUGEN-HONDA have said that they plan to make an announcement about their future at the Malaysian Grand Prix next weekend.
The engine manufacturer, who currently supply the Jordan team with V10 power-units, has been left out in the cold following Jordan's decision to take Honda works engines, along with British American Racing, from 2001.
Mugen-Honda is keen to continue supplying engines in Formula One and have been linked with Italian team Minardi, but the company's president Hirotoshi Honda has said that as yet nothing is confirmed.
"I understand from reports by the press in various magazines and newspapers that we will finish our Formula One activity at the end of this year," said Honda. "But the point is that we have never commented in public yet because we were in negotiations with Honda and Jordan.
"I'm not really prepared to say any more at the moment. There will be a more detailed announcement about out future in Malaysia."
