THE Minardi team was very happy this year with the performances of Fernando Alonso and is now looking at a series of other young men who have done well in the Formula Euro Open Telefonica by Nissan series. The name of the series may be cumbersome but some of the drivers who have come out of the Spanish-based series have been very impressive and former Grand Prix driver Adrian Campos - who oversaw Alonso's early career - has the access at Giancarlo Minardi's ear.

The team is now expected to test Frenchman Franck Montagny who stepped down from Formula 3000 in 2001 because of lack of money to join the Epsilon team to win the Formula Euro Open series. The team will also try out Antonio Garcia who won the title in 2000 and had a frustrating F3000 career this year. Minardi is also expected to take a look at a rising star from Italy called Matteo Bobby who has been driving for Campos in Formula Euro Open this year.
