Minardi man Brunner set to turn down Jordan technical director post

MINARDI technical director Gustav Brunner is set to turn down Jordan after insisting that he is happy to stay at the Italian team.

MINARDI technical director Gustav Brunner is set to turn down Jordan after insisting that he is happy to stay at the Italian team.

Reports in Italy have stated that Eddie Jordan has already made an offer to Brunner to replace Benetton-bound Mike Gascoyne next season, but the Minardi man is expected to rebuff the approach.

"I'm extremely happy at Minardi," said Brunner. "I think everyone can see we've done a good job this year, so, like in every summer, there are people looking around for engineers and there's always someone offering me something for the following year.

"But we have a young team of engineers at Minardi and we're helping to develop their potential. The team is also on the way up, with good prospects for next year so I would like to stay. I love living in Italy so it would take a lot to get me out of Minardi right now."

Austrian Brunner has over 20 years experience in Formula One, with the highlight of his career being two periods spent as an engineer at Ferrari, between 1986 and 1988, and 1993 and 1996.
