Minardi driver Marques excluded from race

EUROPEAN MINARDI driver Tarso Marques will not participate in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone after an appeal to the stewards of the race was rejected.

EUROPEAN MINARDI driver Tarso Marques will not participate in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone after an appeal to the stewards of the race was rejected.

The Brazilian could only manage a lap during qualifying of 1m26.506s, some 6.059 seconds behind Michael Schumacher's pole time 1m20.447. This was some four tenths outside the 107 percent limit.

After the session the Minardi team made an appeal to the stewards, but this stewards denied the request making the statement, "The stewards of the meeting have decided that there are no exceptional circumstances which would allow car number 20 (Tarso Marques) to take part in the warm-up or the race."
